March 2008   Meetings in Progress

General Session- Van-tastic!

"Van-tastic" was the buzz word that Audience Communications president, Tim Ferguson, used to describe the execution of customer's National Meeting done by his organization and our Vancouver branch. "Agencies like ours and AVW-TELAV live by the quality of the partners they work with," he said.

The customer had worked with Audience for many years. This year, Audience's customer was particularly clear that the company wanted to have an "un-conference", not the characteristic numbers-and-facts type of meeting, to truly connect with and entertain their 900 employees who would be in attendance.

Audience and AVW-TELAV achieved this by providing the ideal setting to command and keep hold of the audience's attention. At the very entrance of the room, there were crescendo pieces at either side of the door. From that point, Audience created a spandex tunnel that led to the seating area. DL2 lighting fixtures, provided by Liteworks, lit up the entrance with moving images.

A stage-in-the-round was provided by AVW-TELAV's Set Shop. The audience was positioned around the stage on risers that tiered upward and outward, similar to grandstand seating, for maximum viewing capability.

AVW-TELAV provided four 9'x12' screens, without borders, positioned seamlessly in a scoreboard setting and hanging in the middle of the room. The box-like shape of the screens and front projection gave everyone in the audience a perfect view from any angle.

For many of the company's departments involved (including Human Resources, Finance and Legal), planning an event this large was a totally new experience. "We helped them through it and helped them shine," said Ferguson. "AVW-TELAV played a major part in this."

Best of all, noted Ferguson, it was obvious that the attendees went home feeling appreciated, respected, understood, more confident about their jobs and more involved in their company. "We, as a team, also played a role in this," he added. "I look forward to our next time working together."

Thanks, Tim! So do we!
