Webcasting: World Blood Donor Day

Created in 1998, Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is the successor to the Canadian Red Cross Blood Program and the Canadian Blood Agency (the former funding arm of Canada's blood supply system). CBS is a national, not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to giving Canadians a safe and secure blood supply system they can trust without reservation.

This past summer, Canadian Blood Services, Hema-Quebec and parliamentarians joined together to celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The event was hosted in the Senate Foyer on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario to celebrate the donors and volunteers of Canada's blood systems who contribute to ensuring the health and vitality of their fellow Canadians. The efforts of Canada's blood agencies to bring forward legislation to designate the second week in June as National Blood Donor Week were also recognized.

CBS emailed news of the upcoming event to the most influential media outlets across Canada. However, they also realized a webcast was necessary to offer the widest access to the live 35-minute event. And that's when they contacted AVW-TELAV to make all the arrangements for the webcast. Whether you're a local non-profit organization or a larger multi-national, there is no better, cost-effective and convenient way of disseminating your most important messages regionally or internationally.

Hundreds of people from around the world watched the event. Interested parties logged in to view the event from countries around the globe including Lebanon, Iceland, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia as well as the United States and, of course, Canada.
