The College's mission is to advocate for quality cardiovascular care and to influence health care policy. It is a worthy and weighty goal as cardiovascular disease, principally heart disease and stroke, is not only the leading cause of death in North America, but worldwide, for both men and women among all racial and ethnic groups.

It is critical that their conference, culling some 35,000 cardiologists and associated medical professionals from around the world, flow as smoothly as possible.
As daunting as the pandemic is, large strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. From pacemakers to artificial hearts, electrocardiograms to pharmaceutical medications and bypass surgery, skilled specialists have pushed the envelope continually inventing new techniques to extend quality of life -- so much so that the ACC wants to now stress preventative measures.
At AVW-TELAV we're doing our part, always looking for new efficiencies, so conferences never skip a beat. This year's general session for the ACC was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Florida, with Hall A as the general session room (which held an audience of 6,000), and five additional rooms constructed in exhibit halls (ranging in size to hold 800 to 1,400), in addition to three ballrooms and a theatre as well. Over 1,300 presentations were given during the course of the conference, so organizers employed our latest version of Presentation Management (3.0), just recently released, to keep the schedule running smoothly, seamlessly.
The audio and lighting system's were a complete new design from what ACC has used over the past six years. We designed a new audio system using 32 boxes of the JBL Line Array and a DM 2000 Digital Console -- that cut almost two days off of the load-in and set-up time.
The lighting design was unique in as much as it was the first time we have produced a general session with a fully automated lighting rig. The equipment used included 1100 feet of truss, 50 motors and 65 moving lights. The use of automated lighting enabled us to reduce the total amount of gear by almost 1000 feet of truss, 70K of lighting and 10 to 15 motors.
Not only that, it turned out to be a handsome arrangement. "The lighting looked fantastic," said Angela Karakas, ACC's Director of Education.
The combination of these two new designs not only enabled us to premiere new equipment design and ideas, but it also saved the College money on reduced labor for the installation and dismantle.
The video system included seven Barco R10's, three Barco R8's, two 22.5 x30 Screens and three 12 x 16 Screens along with a three-camera video bay, A DOREMI for playback and 16 2080i flat screen monitors for the stage.
The large size of the main video screens used to be a problem for audio because we could not put anything in front of them. With a JBL Line Array System we were able to place the sound above the screens and still have even coverage across the room.
